How can you take a step towards yourself? You can’t. There is only one you. You cannot take a step towards whom or where you already are. You are here, not there.
There is only one you, which means you have only one mind, one body and one spirit. However, it’s the mind that seems to give all of us the most trouble. All other parts of who we are, more than not, work in harmony. The mind however, is the part of us that can and does create conflict within us.
We often wonder why we are at odds with ourselves. If there is only one you and therefore only one mind within you, how is it that you (and I) can have conflicting thoughts? Conflict implies two.
One mind (thought) says, “I should go to the grocery store now.” The other says, “I should ride my bike for exercise now.” One mind; two thoughts. No harmony. Thoughts pop up endlessly. There is no limit to them. Which one to believe?
Question: Can you get your mind around that? (No pun intended!) Are you able to discern and let the false thought go? Which thought brings you peace? Which one feels like an “ought to”? Which one serves you best in the big picture of time, self-love, peace?
